Many of us have areas in our life where we have self-limiting beliefs. We are constantly telling ourselves “I’m not good at this” or “I can’t do that”. These self-limiting beliefs lead to a lack of confidence. Even though we know that to be more successful we have to be more confident, it isn’t always easy.
Somehow we have to keep striving for more fulfillment in our lives or otherwise we will stop growing. And once we stop growing, we stop living a little. Never stop learning, growing, seeking out your purpose in life at this very moment!
I know at times it may be difficult especially if you are going through a transition in your life. Maybe you’re moving, changing jobs or perhaps you’ve lost a loved one. Change is difficult and even more difficult when you lack confidence. I’ve thought about what has helped me the most with gaining confidence and here are 3 simple things I believe you can do every day.
Think Loving Thoughts & Say Loving Words
Be thankful for who you are, what you have, your strengths, and all your positive qualities. Instead of focussing on what you can’t do, think instead of what you can do in your life. When you start to think negative thoughts about yourself – stop! Develop an attitude of gratitude for all the wonderful things you are able to do.
Watch the language you use about your capabilities when talking to yourself or others. If you are constantly using negative and unkind words, you will feel bad about yourself. Replace negative language with a kinder, healthier voice. Treat yourself like you would treat your best friend!
Walk & Hold Yourself with Confidence
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and 55% of communication is through our body language. Stand up straight with your shoulders back. Walk into a room with purpose and hold your head high. Sit up straight. Don’t cross your arms. Keep your eyes level. Smile. You want your body to convey strength, confidence, and motivation! Be present in the moment. Don’t worry what others are saying about you. Un-clutter your thoughts and be present in the moment. People will respond positively to you. Put Yourself Out There & Celebrate Your Achievements
Understand the things you have the power to change and those you don’t. Try new experiences and gently move yourself out of your comfort zone. Set and work toward positive goals in bite-size chunks. Monitor and review your progress. Mistakes are a natural part of development, so don’t stress out if you make them. Simply learn from them. You know the saying – fake it till you make it!
Acknowledge your past and present achievements, and the personal characteristics you are proud of. Draw strength from past successes and use that to help you stay positive in the present. Be proud of who you are. In fact, write a list of 5 positive achievements and characteristics about yourself right now. Be Proud to BE YOU!
If you are feeling a loss of some confidence right now, I hope you try these 3 tips. Work on it every day and you will be amazed at how your confidence will start to build and how good you will feel about yourself. Confidence builds on confidence!
