I walked into a boutique yesterday just to look around and I was surrounded by hangars of black, brown, and gray clothing. I suppose that’s to be expected at this time of the year, but it was very depressing. I can’t buy another article of clothing that is black or gray, no matter how much I like the style!
We all have our multiple pair of black pants that we like to wear because they hide dirt and camouflage some of our less desirable parts. But that doesn’t mean we can’t wear a bright colored top or even accentuate with colorful accessories – a scarf, necklace, belt or even shoes. Especially during the dreary winter months when we need anything that will improve our dream mood and make us feel good!
Colors Bring Emotion
Did you know that color can have a profound effect on how we feel? Wearing the right colors can make us feel happy, while wearing the wrong colors can have the opposite effect. Colors also impact how others perceive you.
Take the color black for instance. Black conveys power, elegance, sophistication, mystery, death, darkness, seriousness. When you see black you don’t necessarily get that “feel good factor!” Consider yellow though. Yellow brings on feelings of happiness, joy, sunlight, hope, and friendship. It’s a warm, glowing, sunny, and optimistic color. Think smiley face!
I’m not a big fan of wearing yellow so my “happy” color is bright cobalt blue. It brings out my blue eyes and makes me feel more vibrant and alive. Here’s a chart with a few emotions that are triggered when most people see these colors.
Color Can Affect Your Physical & Mental Health
