All of us have experienced a wide range of emotions while in a store’s dressing room. Sometimes we feel excited as we can’t wait to see how a gorgeous outfit will look while, other times, we feel dread as we assume no matter how nice this outfit looks on the hangar, it probably won’t fit or won’t look good on us!
Our Perceived Flaws
As women, our eyes are trained to immediately go to our body parts that we perceive as flawed. Yes, perceived flaws, as many times the features or body parts we think are flaws are not necessarily seen as flaws to others. In our mind’s eye, it is way worse than it actually is. We can’t help it! Women are programmed from an early age to focus our attention on the areas we don’t like!
Did you know that the key to looking good and feeling great is to concentrate on your favorite features? Focusing on the positive rather than the negative makes you think about yourself differently. We all have features that we don’t like about ourselves, we just need to focus on the positives rather than the parts we don’t like as much. So, instead of saying “I hate my …!”, say “I love my …!” And then focus on the parts you love!
What features do you love most?
Try answering this question – “What are the 3 things you love most about how you look?” Perhaps it’s your gorgeous healthy hair? Or your beautiful green eyes? Maybe your long shapely legs? Whatever the answers – these are the features you must celebrate and focus on. Do not focus on the negative parts.
Each one of us is beautiful in some way! We all have positive attributes to our unique body shapes. We just need to shift the focus so that the positives are recognized by us because if we feel great on the inside, we’ll look great on the outside!
In my next post I’ll discuss how your clothing can help others to focus on your best parts also!
LOOK GREAT | FEEL GREAT | DO GREAT!
