I used to take some of my sweaters to the dry cleaners – mainly because I was working and never had time to hand wash many items. I’d follow the label and if it said “dry clean” then off to the cleaners it went. Until I was told about Le Blanc® Silk & Lingerie Wash.
Le Blanc® Silk & Lingerie Wash is designed for all washable and colorfast delicate fabrics. It comes in many different fragrances or fragrance-free. I use the Original.
Here is what I do:
- I soak my sweater in cool/cold water and the LeBlanc cleanser for about 20 min.
- After rinsing the sweater, I squeeze out water (never wring!) and lay flat on a towel. I fold over the towel and roll it up. I press on the towel hard so as much water as possible is absorbed in the towel.
- Then I put the towel and the sweater in the dryer on delicate setting/low heat for 12 min. This takes out more water and sort of shapes the garment. Do not leave in the dryer longer or use higher heat!
- Then I lay the sweater on a rack to dry flat.
Yes, it does take time but the end result is wonderful – You will find that your sweaters are the softest and smell the best! No more dry cleaning odor.
LeBlanc also makes a Linen Wash which is the best for washing your sheets. Yes, the products can be used in the washing machine. Check out their website for more product information.
Le Blanc products are sold at specialty stores. In Rhode Island, you can purchase at daisy dig’ins – I learned about these products from Lois Coppolino, the owner. A list of stores by states can be found here.
Let me know if you try Le Blanc. Do you have any tips for caring for sweaters? I would love to hear them!
