How much thought have you given to your shoulders? Well, now is the time to focus on these shoulders – how valuable they are to your every day life, what you need to do to keep them toned and healthy and, of course, whether the new spring shoulder trends are something you want to add to your outfits or not.
Shoulder to Shoulder
We all depend on our shoulders for one very important reason — the shoulder joint is what allows us to control where we can move our arms in order to use them. Shoulder pain can be one of the most frustrating problems because a shoulder that is not working normally interferes with almost every part of our daily life. We need to make sure we know how to keep our shoulders healthy and toned!
Our Shoulders Speak Volumes
Shoulders also play a huge part in our body language and our posture. A shoulder shrug is one of the few body languages that will be recognized universally as “I don’t know” or “I don’t care”. We are told from an early age to stand up straight, shoulders back, don’t slouch. A person who slouches and holds their shoulders inward is seen to be less confident than a person who stands up straight and holds their shoulders back. You many not have given so much thought about how very important your shoulders are!
Take Good Care of Your Shoulders
Do you know what exercises are best to keep your shoulders healthy? I wanted to know more so I reached out to Elizabeth Dewey of Studio 47 to see what she advises.
Spring Trend: Off the Shoulder, One Shoulder, the Cold Shoulder
From off-the-shoulder tops to one shoulder to the cold shoulder cutouts, it felt like no runway was left out of this trend this spring. No matter your Style Personality showing a little peak of shoulder is a good option for those who may not want to expose their arms. It will be several more weeks before we can wear these looks outside but you can always try layering in the meantime.
Here are 4 different styles featuring our very important shoulders (links included):
Here’s a cute tee from Anthropologie. You can wear it off both shoulders as it is featured here or off only one shoulder. If there’s a chill in the air just pull both shoulders up.
This cropped pleasant blouse from Free People features a neckline you can adjust to wear the way you want! You can also see the cutout accents at the inside shoulder. I also like the wide sleeves with tied cuffs. The crop top goes nicely with a long skirt as featured here. Since it is a gauzy material it is great to wear around the beach. It will also look great with a pair of skinny white denims. This is my favorite of these featured looks.
