Style Lessons from Martin Luther King
Being a “stylish” woman involves more than just focusing on your appearance and the style of your clothes. It involves being “stylish” in your communication, your attitude, and your relationships. Whether you are a professional woman, a business owner, a stay-at-home mom, or like me, a woman navigating her “retirement years”, you should think about your “leadership style.”
Since today is a holiday in his honor, I thought it would be appropriate to use Martin Luther King as one of the greatest examples of “leadership style.”
What made Martin Luther King so great and so loved as a leader? There are so many qualities. Here are just three:
- He had a vision, a dream bigger than the times in which he lived
- He led a revolution in a a non-violent way
- He was inspirational and challenged us to be our best
And, in addition, he taught us to focus on others. Here is one of his many quotes that I think epitomizes great leadership “style.”
So, this is the key message to take away today –
Doing good for others is good for you!
It is the best style tip I can give you today.
In honor of Dr. King, what will you do for someone today?
LOOK GREAT | FEEL GREAT | DO GREAT!
